Well, you do make a pretty unassimilated comparison. Perhaps you’re not completely up to date in terms of the things Kanye is saying, and the implications it can have on the lives of an incredibly large amount of people, and also the gravity of the impact, which both are on a completely different scale than the John Lennon comparison.

I really think you’re underestimating the severity of the situation. Neonazis are coming out in support of Kanye West, the holocaust museum invited him over, when he said no, they’ve received an incredible amount of deaththreats, conservatives use him as a means of getting people to start believing in their borderline nazi/fascist rhetoric. Please don’t act like this is nothing, this is fucking horrible.

If you follow American online political discourse you know that Kanye west has been weaponized by the far-right as a useful idiot for their own propaganda, what better way to forward nazi rhetoric than a black guy going after jews?

Well it depends, if his literary works (Knut Hamsun) have been a foundation for people becoming nazi sympathizers, perhaps a bit more moral consciousness is in place. About Kanye, It’s difficult, there have been so many instances where he’s just borderline denying holocaust, or casually whataboutisming away from it, and so many other literal insane shit he’s said in the past couple weeks, that I think, even him having an manic episode, does not mean he’s not to be blamed for anything. This is such a big event, where all types of lines are being crossed, which emboldens neonazi’s, fascists and white supremacists in their ability to cross lines they weren’t able before. It’s, at least for me, impossible to deconnect his music from his behavior lately, since music is art, which is expression, which in turn is an extension of a person. But hey, each to their own of course.
