For me, it's "Me, White Noise" from Blur's album Think Tank. It feels like multiple songs switching between eachother, with the spoken word parts having these dark, intrusive-thought sounding lyrics, going into Damon Albarn's singing which then turns into loud, distorted screaming. Really makes you feel like you're listening to the mind of someone who's just lost it.

‘Mania’ by Throwing Muses (in a very, very big way); ‘The Blue Mask’ by Lou Reed.

It’s also the subject matter of each, but it’s not just about what the words say.

Goodbye Sober Day by Mr. Bungle of their album California.

Everything from the music to the lyrics perfectly exemplifies insanity and schizophrenia.

for me it’s gotta be “hey, soul sister” by train. nothing says being insane more than lipstick stains on one’s frontal lobe, game show love connections, cutting rugs into odd shapes, colliding with Mr. mister mister mister, and an UNTRIMMED CHEST. Pat monahan truly is one of the greatest lyricists of the past 20,30,40,50 years -and of all time tbh- and if i could meet him irl i’d totally give him one drop of jupiter for all of his hard work over the years! Hey! Hee-eey! songs pretty catchy tbh and pat’s a good singer but what the fuck are those lyrics lmao. A true train wreck of words that must have been more than a trip to write and sing in front of OTHER people. More than insane ost

I like Warped by RHCP, it’s about addiction but in the sense that his life is rapidly falling to pieces and he can’t even keep things straight anymore

One of the best acid rock songs I’ve ever heard, if only that genre was more like this song in being super intense instead of the boring sound it usually has

(also for a classical answer, Symphony Fantastique does this brilliantly)

The story goes that Ezrin had Cooper lie on the floor surrounded by a makeshift cage of steel chairs while screaming the ‘I wanna get out of here’ part at length until it properly captured the feeling he was going for

Frankie Teardrop by Suicide.

Honestly, one of the most disturbing songs ever about a man who went insane and killed his family. It builds up into bunch of jumpscares and loud synths. Amazing track but I won't listen to it on repeat.

Climbing Up the Walls by Radiohead

It tells a protagonist who gone mad in an asylum and it inspired by an incident of Thom Yorke worked in an asylum. Underrated track in OK Computer.
