This is so upsetting. Such an amazing artist, such a gorgeous voice. Seeing her in concert with Fleetwood Mac with the whole band together was one of the greatest live shows I’ve ever seen! She was just magic. Rest in peace.

Yes. She was the heart of the band IMO...Stevie is great but behind the scenes, Christine made it all come together. RIP Christine and Thank You.

Beyond sad for the other members of the band. I really hope they all start to forgive each other. Life is short.

This breaks my heart. I’m a huge Fleetwood Mac fan and I’m one of those weirdos that always liked her songs better that Stevie’s. It’s a shame because I’ve been hearing a lot more of her stuff being used in adverts and other media lately and seems like her music was getting a reappraisal as of late. You can trace her breathy voice and mellow vibes of her music to a lot of modern popular music trends right now. I was hoping that would lead to maybe some more output from her but sadly that’s not to be. I was so very lucky to get to see her perform a few years back (when Lindsay was still with them too) with my wife and my mother who are also fans. RIP to one of my favorite singers of all time. Your music had a big impact on my life! Thanks for all those breezy summer days, driving down backroads with my windows down and vibing. You’ll be missed!

Sadness…
I think every kid in the suburbs was issued a copy of Rumors. It was ubiquitous and still gets a lot of play on oldies stations.

Same here, Christine's songs usually resonated more with me than Stevie's did. Too bad local radio stations don't agree with me.
Heisenbread77 t1_iyen7w9 wrote
She did fine on her own though. I just always assumed it was a lesser know FM song.

That is my favorite Fleetwood Mac song, hands down. Mystery To Me is such a fantastic album.
catsasss t1_iyeoqny wrote
Oh shit. She was my favorite. I think Mick Fleetwood wrote in his book “every song she writes is a love song”
I remember waking before dawn one morning in college, and putting “Songbird” on to greet the sunrise.
Fuck I’m old.
ETA a (ahem) years ago we got tickets to see the whole group together, and took my teen daughter and one of her friends with us. Just a few weeks ago, daughter, who is now 30, thanked me for taking them, cause she now knows all the music and loves it.

This hits me right in the feels. My mom never used a babysitter so she took me to the Rumors tour when I was 9.

It really is. I love Bob Welsh and wish he could’ve stayed on after Heroes Are Hard To Find. It’s not like there was never two guitarists in the band.
invol713 t1_iyeunaq wrote
This. Had Stevie never joined, the band would’ve still been great. But Christine just brought the great vibes, great tunes, and great personality. and was a big reason the band made it to become famous in the first place.
invol713 t1_iyeuu27 wrote
Agreed. Always preferred Christine over Stevie.
invol713 t1_iyev3hr wrote
Mick Fleetwood played drums on that track, which was a big reason it sounded like a FM song. Those two were the backbone of the group.
invol713 t1_iyevg0v wrote
Same. But she joined FM way back in 1971. And that was a few years ago. And Chicken Shack was before that.
