When learning about a new act, you’re often introduced via. singles (hits). If it’s something you like, you move further a listen to the other songs on their releases. When you got past that point and if you’re hungry for more you may be lucky, that B-sides have been released.

To clarify for those who don’t know it: B-sides are tracks, that are recorded but are not included on an album or EP. They often find their way to supplements on singles or bonus tracks in some sort.

I’m a big fan of Manic Street Preachers. Their B-side album Lipstick Traces is full of truly great songs, where you dig deep into the soul of the band. On many songs, you can hear why it didn’t make it to the album, but still it’s very interesting.

Nirvanas B-side album Incesticide is another example of a great album of this kind.

With the B-sides you get to explore the more quircky sides of your favorite acts and you may even experience a more deep connection with them.
