Bo Diddley's birthday is December 30. He's one of the founding father's of rock and roll.

His biggest contribution to rock and roll is "the Bo Diddley beat". Think "shave and a haircut two bits".

Bands that have used the Bo Diddley beat include The Byrds, Rolling Stones, David Bowie, The Clash, The Pretenders, Buddy Holly, Bruce Springsteen, The Who, and The Allman Brothers Band.

There are many more.

He was a great musician and a great man, as long as you weren't trying to sell him your Rochefoucauld watch.

Listen to "Bo Diddley Santa Claus", which is not by him, but about him, and uses the Bo Diddley hambone beat.

Had a chance to see him perform in a small town I was in on the Oregon coast. But I had to work and missed the show. He died like a year later.

bo diddley’s beach party and the live record from the 80s on XXx records (bo diddley live) with the extendo jams are the underrated albums that are really worth seeking out
