“What you won’t do for love” by Bobby Caldwell and “Angela (theme From Taxi)” by Bob James. There’s similarities to me that I just love the vibe of. It’s more chill, Bobby’s song is more melancholic, but both very very vibey. I understand it’s “Jazz” but jazz covers so many different sounds. Would really appreciate some help here haha TIA

Smooth jazz. The Caldwell has elements of Yacht Rock and Jazz Fusion. The James has elements of Production or Library Music. If you like smooth Jazz type sounds j highly recommend this radio show : https://youtube.com/@KJCMuzique

Smooth Jazz, ideally with a little bit of funk mixed in. You'd probably like the original "just the two of us." My dad used to listen to a lot of that music. I remember the rippingtons, Dave Koz, Rick Braun, and I know there's a bunch of other bands and artists in that genre I'm forgetting.

It's not all going to scratch that itch, and someone who is more of a music nerd than me may know a hyper specific name for it, but if you can find smooth Jazz with a little bit of 70s fender Rhodes and funk accenting it I think you'd probably find a lot you like.

Both songs fall under smooth jazz since I've heard both songs on smooth jazz stations, but they could also be labeled soft rock, adult contemporary, or as Japanese call it, city pop.

Check out Chuck Mangione, Spyro Gyra, and George Benson, as well as Herb Alpert's albums from the 70s and 80s.

Sidebar: I clearly hear the influence of the taxi theme in Le Femme D'argent by air.
