Why doesn't the UK bring out any good musicians and music anymore?

Under no circumstance would I mean to offend the United Kingdom and its culture, but there is something drawing my attention. We are all familiar with the Beatles, Elton John, Pink Floyd, Ed Sheeran, Mick Jagger, etc. However, even though some of the aforementioned are still active today (which I am glad for), I think there has been quite a while ever since somebody blazed forth in the publicity with any rocking hits. Perhaps it is only me, yet what do you think guys?

The way the society and economy are impacting UK I say there’s a good chance for a new punk wave…it fell like UK is closing in on mid 70s catastrophic conditions once more and out of that some seriously good music came into being.

Royal Blood - Little monster, these guys rock pretty hard and are also from the UK. They got pretty popular here in the states for awhile. Awesome 2 man band.

I think it's just you and - those who also think that way.

UK has plenty of great new music. It always has since I was a kid in the 1960s. Of course there are periods that radio and people's playlists are dominated by stuff that is most aggressively marketed and hyped, but there is amazing variety there for those who aren't too lazy to seek it out.

You have YouTube and streaming platforms to explore, you have online communities to ask for nominations of good music. But you decide to ask a question that pre-supposes there's nothing to be found?

Attitude adjustment, mate. Get off your arse and go looking.

I don't mean to be rude but you asked for what people thought of your lament, you didn't ask what good music there is.

Young people don't like the same music as young people of 10/20/30 years ago. Hits are generally young people's music. There are fewer young people in general. Fewer people learn a traditional instrument. A lot of people don't have the attention span for more elaborate songs anymore.

And maybe most important: new music has to compete with both old and new music, so it's harder to stand out.
