It's funny. I barely hear ~any~ bass in a lot of the more intense ELUVIETIE songs, but when I listen to something like Busta Rhymes, Wu Tang Clan, or Masta Ace -- there's bass out the wazoo.

Artists like Busta Rhymes and Wu Tang Clan push the bass way up in the recording and mixing process, to the point that on really cheap speakers that can't handle it well, it sounds like mud. Some of the best bands for getting a good bass that isn't overpowering include Gorillaz, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Rush.

Yeah, the bass is definitely turned up in the mix, but it's not egregious. Another one with a solid, identifiable bass track is Self Esteem by the Offspring.
