It's called imagine dragons. And I'm tired of "Rock" stations playing it on repeat.

That song in particular just shouldn’t exist, let alone become a hit. It has over 1 billion streams on Spotify, while there are other songs by lesser known bands, which deserve that number but have nothing.

That song didn't become unbearable because it was overplayed. It started out unbearable for being awful. I still can't fathom why it gets so much radio air time.

At a certain point, you have to accept that there a lot of garbage people who like a lot of garbage and keep perpetuating it. People who actually like, love or obsess over cheesy pop or formulaic country are basically admitting that they have un-evolved brains that soak up propaganda

I thought their first album was decent enough for radio pop/rock. Then I heard that song and now I can't hear any of their stuff without it playing in my head and making me want to barf. Very disappointing.

I used to work in radio as a DJ. You think you hate Christmas songs? You have no idea. You dread the last couple months of the year, because you know that your program director is going to steadily add Christmas songs into the mix every week after Thanksgiving, and there's nothing you can do about it.

What most people don't realize is that there's really only about 8 decent Christmas songs to start with, and most of the time is filled with covers of those songs...of varying quality.

Burnt to a crisp. Whatever Iheartradio, Audacy, and Cumulus do whenever they pick up a new song once every year or so.

Please don’t listen to commercial radio. KEXP, College stations, and NPR music affiliates offer a much better variety with much less interruptions.

Pink Floyd? Radio hardly plays Pink Floyd much at all besides maybe Wish You Were Here and Another Brick In The Wall pt. 2.

In St. Louis I call it “the KSHE effect” after our once great rock station that now reduces most bands to a select few songs. (I’m fairly certain that Queen have more than 5 songs for example 😏)

I find that this happens with some albums that I listen to. Im fairly sure I have adhd (don’t want to say FOR SURE though cause I’ve never talked to a doctor) but I’ll listen to an album I absolutely love for months. Eventually it gets less exciting, and more stale. So I have to step back and basically ignore music I really really want to listen to. It’s not that I can’t love that music again, but it’s just annoying to have to take breaks. No idea what it’s called, but I can relate :)

AndWat OP t1_j2bc9p5 wrote

That's exactly what I (OP) meant. I don't think that Imagine was terrible when Lennon wrote it. Overrated, yes, sentimental, yes, even worse than McCartney's Christmas song, yes. But it wasn't as terrible as it now sounds to me.
