I don't usually enjoy hip hop. There are some exceptions, but if you saw a picture of me, those exceptions would be painfully obvious.

Can't say I've heard of either of them. Is this an attempt to get their names to turn up on google?

Yea I think it's possible that you get the 100million people together and none of them know either.. I've never heard of them.. I'm also in my late 30s.

I’ve never read such a dumb comment lol. How are you on a music subreddit without basic knowledge of music?

purl__clutcher t1_j6lgfau wrote

LOL. I have plenty of music knowledge. I just choose which music I listen to

It's not a debate. It's not subjective.

Earl Sweatshirt's biggest song on Spotify has over 100 million listens. Ice JJ Fish (who no one has ever heard of) only has one song over 1 million and it's less that 10 million.

If you can find the Tosh.0 segment with Ice JJ Fish, it’s worth a watch.

kanyehavearest t1_j6kdxu8 wrote

if you count 'Oldie' by Odd Future as Earl Sweatshirt's most-viewed on YouTube (52 million) that still pales in comparison to the 87 million views On the Floor by IceJJFish has...

IceJJFish was a massive meme...

They both did a song together (“N***a I’m Happy”) 😂😂😂 but Earl is obviously more famous and a better artist. However if you listen to other people sing IceJJFish, his lyrics don’t sound terrible and he’s surprisingly lyrical.

Just look at the numbers on Spotify-3.2 million monthly listeners for Earl 49,000 for Fish. BTW-the idea of 100 million people in a room is upsetting.

From what I remember, Earl sweatshirt hung out with Tyler the creators crew, and released heavy lyrical rap songs. Ice JJ Fish (which btw my phone tried to correct ice to I've), he sounds like he likes fish sticks, and putting fish sticks in his mouth.

Edit: when I type "ice" into Spotify, Ice Cube, Ice Spice, Ice-T, Biggie, Ice Nine Kills, Dr. Dre, 2Pac, NWA, Easy-E, Vanilla Ice, Snoop Dog, and Drake all appear above Ice jFish.
