Soon - My Bloody Valentine off Loveless

Good Morning Captain - Slint off Spiderland

Wachovia - Pissed Jeans off Shallow

Musette & Drums - Cocteau Twins off The Pink Opaque (not an album but still a banger closer)

All of these songs leave me slightly breathless at the end of a great album.

Kings of Leon - Holy Roller Novocaine and then 8mins later the hidden track Talihina Sky off their debut album.

Kings of Leon - Rememo closer off Aha Shake Heartbreak

Kings of Leon - Arizona closer off Because of the Times

Sorry for all the KoL, but their first 3 albums are just underrated bangers.

The Downward Spiral isn’t a perfect album, but it has some incredible highs. There are 5 tracks after the biggest miss on the album, all of which combine to form one of the greatest 20 contiguous minutes of music on any recorded album.

The closer is preceded by a muffled track, reintroducing a melody from earlier in the album, describing the final descent to the bottom.

The closer is Hurt.

This album isn’t for everyone, it’s angry, depressing and nihilistic. The polar opposite of a Beatles album theme-wise.

But it absolutely belongs in the conversation.

Comin’ Down is an awesome song and then like a lot of 90s CDs it has a hidden track which is Lake Of Fire. That whole album is genius
