Does anyone have any recommendations for songs about emotionally abusive mothers (preferably genres like pop-punk, goth, or grunge).

I need a song to relate to cause I'm going insane over here and the pain is overwhelming.

Edit: Tysm for the recommendations <3!

I don’t have a song recommendation but I am a mom and I just wanted to say I’m sorry you’re going through this, you don’t deserve it and I’m proud of you for looking for peace and solace through music, that’s such a healthy and mature thing to do.

If you don't need the songs to be EXACTLY about abusive parents...Korn's first album should give you several songs that would allow you to work through things.

The Sunset Tree is an autobiographical album, there's multiple songs about his abusive father, like Dance Music and Lion's Teeth.

Tallah's Matriphargy album is about an emotionally, psychologically and physically abused boy doing the unthinkable and murdering his own mother.

Korn have a lot of songs about parental neglect and a messed up childhood as Jonathan was raped by his neighbour who was friends with his parents and they wouldn't believe him. Their fourth album Issues and self titled first album seem to reference this the most. The song Daddy in particular is hair raising,

Room Of Angel from Silent Hill deals with the disdain for one's mother "the love you never gave, I give to you, You really don't deserve it".

Today and Disarm by Smashing Pumpkins are about Billy being sexually abused as a child.

Yknow I'm not trying to be that guy but this seems more like a cry for attention than it did for help; it really doesn't make any difference in my life nor will it but I don't believe this is the outlook of yourself you want people to see. good luck

It is metal, but I can give you a whole album. It's called Matriphagy, a character named Kungan who is trying to escape his industrial building type home and his mother.

I love this band a lot. This album came across me at a time when I needed it most, as I had an unfortunate fallout with someone very close to me, and I had and still somewhat have a complicated relationship with my parents. I hope that maybe this album can help you too.

I wish you the best.❤

I think Everything Zen by Bush kind of fits that bill. Vague in a poppy (alt rock) sort of way. I think it's about life generally sucking for a teen and domestic abuse is a part of it.

For instance, I think "There's no sex in your violence" describes a parent who is being abused.

But "there must be something we can eat, maybe find another lover" seems to suggest mom is selling herself to afford groceries.
