Absolutely. I could have listed bands like System of a Down etc. that seem to not have that much impact in music history as 70's or 80's bands do have. Maybe there is some kind of maturing those bands have to go through but it just feels like those bands are not that 'impactful'.

But they were, you just didn't live in it. SOAD was a massive band for a few years. Very unique band that left a huge musical footprint.
Unless you live through an era you can't know what it is like. The biggest era was the Kiss era, in the mid to late 70's, they were world wide massive. Now they are a faint memory.
Try to find documentaries on the different musical eras and you will see what I mean.

Papa Roach released a song today, an album last year and in 2020 and has 9.8 million monthly listeners on Spotify alone. They're still relevant, if not as popular as they were a couple a decades ago.

Your question doesnt make sense. You’re asking us if we knew how relevant these bands were in early 2000s…so why wouldn’t they be invisible now? Also, it’s hard to stay relevant if you’re not pumping out music.

Remember that music goes through changes, some last years, some last a short time. What was relevant in the 70's like rock bands such as Zeppelin, Sabbath, Stones and Kiss changed to the 80's where rock bands like Priest, Maiden, Halen and Leppard, and on and on. Music is always going through changes and there are people now that have never heard of the 8 bands I listed and they were the greatest bands on earth during the 70's and 80's.
