They played this at my grandpas funeral back in 1995. Listen to it all the time

My Way is my funeral song. I’m 48 so hopefully it’s some time off, but it’s brilliant.

first of all amazing song. love frank sinatra and this is hands down my favorite song from him. if you would like similar songs you can try That's Life by Frank Sinatra theres also Deacon Blues by Steely Dan (which is also my favorite song of all time)

Cycles by Frank Sinatra is amazing.

I first heard it covered live in Boulder, CO by the Tallest Man on Earth, and the Spring Standards. here is the video from that concert, a great rendition of a classic song

May or may not be what you seek, but The Impossible Dream (the Quest), composed by Mitch Leigh, written by Joe Darion is the first to pop in my head. Quite a few singers, since it's a broadway tune.

This is a bad copy of a French song. It is so crappily self congratulatory, makes be want to puke.

Is it especially self-congratulatory?

> I've loved, laughed and cried

> I had my fill, my share of losing

> And now, as the tears subside

> I find that it's all so amusing

...

> That record shows I took all the blows

> And did it my way

It's someone looking back at his life, who was sad about the failures, but is now at the end of his life and is proud that he made his own choices, took his own path, and endured the blows that life deals you.

He did life his own way, was unique in certain ways in an uncaring world. An existentialist anthem. A bit sad. A bit happy. A song about life.

To be fair it’s much better than the schmaltzy original in French (and I’m French).
