Just broke up with my boyfriend a few days ago. The only breakup songs I find are about girls who get cheated on or mistreated in the relationship, but that’s not how me and him broke up, we left off on good terms, so I want a song that is different. Songs about:

  • Breaking up to grow separately

  • First love breakup

  • Missing them and how they made you feel

  • Songs about knowing you’re going to find someone else and that you won’t be alone forever.

And anything else that is close to these. Thank you :)

Unanswered Prayers by Garth Brooks is in the ballpark. Meets old flame and realizes it worked out for the best that they didn’t pair up. Not bitter against her; she just wasn’t the one.

Radiohead - Fake Plastic Trees is about (probably) 2 fake people falling in love but only loving the fake version of one another. Not about cheating but devastating none the less

I Know It’s Over - The Smiths

Landslide - Fleetwood Mac

Too late by Carole King

There'll be good times again for me and you
But we just can't stay together, don't you feel it, too?
Still, I'm glad for what we had and how I once loved you

But it's too late, baby, now it's too late
Though we really did try to make it
Something inside has died and I can't hide
And I just can't fake it
Oh, no no no no no

I actually wrote a song about this.

Gabriella Streaton-Chrysanthemum

It's about rightfully feeling sad about a breakup, but at the same time it's the realisation that you can't always be what someone else needs at that point in their life, and that's also okay.

Your Ex-Lover is Dead by Stars.

I know the title doesn't sound as "healthy" but trust me. It's a breakup song, but coming to grips with it. And it has a beautiful cello/bass line in the chorus.
