I once dated a girl whose dad played a CD in the car. It consisted of a palm-muted bass guitar, plucked with a plectrum; little plodding bass lines - it could have been a keyboard with that effect. At the forefront was woodwind, what sounded like pan pipes or two flutes playing a melody in harmony with one another. Track I most remember was in 4/4, 60 bpm, key of Bb major, easygoing/carefree tone and feel. The style sounded mid-20th Century American to me so I referred to it as "Americana", which I doubt is the correct umbrella term. I regret that I don't remember much else and can't provide a more detailed description. Any help appreciated!

EDIT: No vocals or percussion; what I've described is all I remember hearing.

You want the genre and part of the clue you're giving is that it's in Bb?

You didn't mention whether there were vocals, whether there were any other characteristics. I'm going with Tull (Definitely faster than 60 bpm)

I didn't, and probably should have. This is a stellar find but unfortunately is not it. It didn't vocals, nor any more instruments than I mentioned.

The bass line that u remember, was it jazzy or bluesy or folksy or countrified?

Out of all of those, I would say… bluesy. Kind of an ascending vamp of crotchet notes with a little turn at the end. Jesus, I am a walking Chat GPT 🤦‍♂️
