Why eat Japanese food in newark? Why not have some of the best Portuguese food in the country?

Sakura Japan is my go to spot. Is it authentic Japanese food? I have no idea, but it's at a very convenient location on broad street which is a 10 minute walk from NJPac, or if you're city savvy, one light rail stop away from Penn Station.

The food allows me to enter a food coma and feel good about myself for 20 minutes before having to resume work.

Best bet if you have a car is Tomo's Cuisine in East Hanover.

Probably the worst city in the country to eat Japanese food.

There is a niche japanese food type at

Go!Go! Curry! 1 William St, Newark, NJ 07102

Japanese food may not be the best in Newark, try Hoboken or Jersey City. They have great places. In newark you will find the best Portuguese/ Spanish food and very good Brazilian steak houses.

Manu's is Brazilian-Japanese. Has hibachi and sushi. Its pretty good.

Ramen Gami reopens finally on Feb 19th apparently. That place was also really good.
