I have a friend from Iceland staying with me for a month and I want to make sure he can have good food from home if he gets homesick. What are some of the great Icelandic restaurants in Newark? Anywhere with Hrutspungar would be amazing.

This is a parody of the best Japanese food in Newark one. Made me laugh!

Your thought for the day:

Population of Iceland: 372,520

Population of Newark NJ: 307,220

Population of Essex County NJ: 854,917

For scale purposes!

The fact that Iceland produced a talent as world class as Bjork with that tiny of a population is truly something else!

If French fries are a major part of Icelandic diets you are in luck!

Bjork's Burger Palace, where all the servers wear swan dresses.

Otherwise, I bet Whole Foods sells skyr.

Easy answer but you’ll have to invite your friend back in about 6 months. Go over to Coney Island and see if you can catch a shark. Bury the shark in Newark. In 6 months dig it up! Icelandic delicacy and the respect of your friend, Magnus Olafsson.

Might be hard to track down puffin or fermented shark anywhere in NJ. You can take your friend to Whole Foods and get some skyrr, that’s about the best you can do.

you don't think he's sick of icelandic food if he lives there?

He might have to settle for a few bottles of Einstok.

ShopRite surely has plenty of options in their ethnic aisle for you to prepare a delicious home-cooked Icelandic meal for your friend in the heart of Brick City.

closest I can say is Swedish Bakery/lite eats in Hackensack called Bageriet

an Austrian restaurant in neighboring Harrison called Charley's.

good luck, NYC would def cater to your friend much easier.
