Newark doesn't have much to offer that JC doesn't have.

Newark and JC are in the top 5 least car dependent cities in America, but you wouldn't know it walking around in Newark. Jersey City on the other hand is pretty walkable downtown with a pedestrian plaza (definitely not perfect by any means). Newark's downtown is barely open at night.

JC has no equal to NJPAC, Prudential Center, our art Museum, Essex County Parks & the Ironbound.

Grove Street in JC is nice , but it’s mostly less cool versions of stuff that’s in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

It doesn't need an equal to that because you can just take the PATH over to Newark for one day. Or the PATH to NYC.

Downtown JC is much more vibrant than the Ironbound, especially nowadays, and I grew up in the Ironbound. Ironbound has better food, especially for the price, but that's about it.

JC, Hoboken, E.NY and the others on the Hudson is dependent on NY where Newark is its own dependent city with it's own style not transplanted NY'ers turning the Hudson into there version of Manhattan/Brooklyn.
