Rahway is a cute town! It's gotten much better from when I was a kid, when downtown was kinda dead. Lots of new restaurants and residential development around the train station, easy commute to Newark/NY. Good mix of apartments and detached housing, and pretty diverse. The one significant issue is the constant flooding along the Rahway River. Avoid the flood zone, especially if you're looking to buy a house; you'll pay an arm and a leg for flood insurance.

I used to live in Newark but now live in Rahway. I’m a fan. The downtown is charming and constantly changing. There’s always stuff going on, even if super small and local. Feels safe and the convenience of the train is great. Population is diverse and not over-gentrified.

The restaurants are also surprisingly good. It’s been interesting to see that Newark has attracted new restaurants that are hipster/cool-looking. In comparison, Rahway’s places feel more mom and pop. In that sense, there isn’t a lot of glitz and glam in Rahway yet, but that’s okay. It’s a town to watch, imo.

I feel like that's where I lot of people go to from Newark or to Union. Not bad just bland imo. That whole stretch from Elizabeth to Woodbridge is one of my least favorite parts of NJ but that's more subjective. It's relatively affordable and decent.

My friend stayed at that Watt Hotel a couple times, which is what led me to exploring Rahway. I was pleasantly surprised. A nice hotel (with a nice bar), many other bars/restaurants, a brewery, an arts center, old buildings mixed with the new, the train station, then a lovely residential area. A damn thriving and walkable downtown! A lot of people just know those towns between Newark and Woodbridge from the Turnpike, which doesn't leave the best impression, but they've got a lot to offer.
