Is it realistic that I can get unloaded from my plane (no checked baggage) @ 1pm. Check into my hotel near by (10 min from airport) and then take a Uber or Lyft from Newark airport area to Battery Park, NY by 3pm? Is there usually good bit of traffic during this time that I’m not accounting for?

I’m wanting to get to Battery Park for the Statue of Liberty ferry by 3pm. I could leave from the New Jersey State park side (which would probably be easier) but I thought going into NY would give me more opportunity to see more. (Also wanting to check out ground zero after returning from ferry)

Thanks for the help!

Is your hotel by the actual airport or more downtown?

It might be possible but its still a bit of a gamble and way more expensive. Most people probably would suggest public transit. From Newark Penn you can get the PATH train to the World Trade Center in like 20 minutes and then walk down there in less than 30 minutes or take a ride share to save the walking.

Hotel is near the airport, The airport Marriott.

Thanks for the info. If I was an experienced traveler I’d try it my luck but I’m not. I have an afternoon later in my trip where I might could take my time to figure out the public transit.

Are you using the official ferry and not one of the many scam companies?

There is zero reason to use the NYC departure point.

Yes official ferry. I was only going to try from NYC as a way to see the both city a bit but also see the Statue of Liberty. I’m a little pressed on time as I’m on a business trip for a few days in Newark.

The free Staten Island ferry also gives great views of New York Harbor and runs 24/7

I believe you can take it from NJ going there, then take it to ny when leaving.

I didn’t think of that. That might be what I do.

Yes I did exactly that last summer. They don't check your destination when leaving (assuming you booked the official ferry). The NJ departure point is only 15 minutes from the airport, so there's no reason to depart from NYC if you plan to Uber or Lyft from your hotel.
