I’m not sure where you’re moving from but if possible it’s always recommended to go see a place in person before putting money down.

That being said if you can’t, anywhere in the north ward or Ironbound is your best bet if you’re worried about safety. Downtown isn’t too bad either but shit happens once in a while.

I can send you pictures of the neighborhood around Addison when I get a chance if need be. But it’s genuinely a safe place as far as Newark goes. Which is to say, things can still happen, but you don’t need to be as worried as you would be living in the South Ward.

Thank you so much this was very helpful and useful to know I am probably going to circle on addison.

It seems to be well-connected to public transport and seems to be good bang for the buck. I'll try to get one in the upper floors

I moved to the area into a unit sight unseen through a realtor to go to RBS. It was a disaster. Moved to the ironbound and highly recommend. Feel free to DM

Check around forest hills section. It’s close to branch brook station. If not then around Ironbound might be your next best bet

If you’re okay with a roommate, you can easily get a 2br for under 3k in a new building downtown. Might be able to find some 1brs in the Ironbound for that but they will likely be kind of old and wonky.

Your safest bet is the Iron Bound. Im there almost every day and its very nice, restaurants and you can walk around.

If you want to see if an area is bad or not, go after 5 PM on a warm day. That will give you a good glimpse.

There are some new apartments at the silver lake light rail stop. Look at those.
