Just had a slick young man present at my door (university heights) claiming to be from PSEG and wanting to verify some jargon associated with my account. Wanted me to pull up my bill on the step there with him.

Luckily I've seen this type of shit before so I told him to get lost, but he was very determined to talk circles around me until I shut the door in his face.

Don't ever give these scammers any information or let them see your bill. All they need is an account number and they can sign you up for some independent energy provider that charges exponentially more in the long run. They're usually pretty good at their little schtick, and will try a bunch of different angles to talk you into pulling up your account.

Haven't seen them around in a few years, but they're clearly back at it in the university heights area.

Be cautious - usually you can & should avoid anyone looking to do any kind of door-to-door business.

Oh Man, they were recently at my house in ironbound. The girl wouldn’t leave until I showed her a bill no matter how many times I told her I wasn’t interested. I didn’t sign up for anything, but didn’t know all they needed was to see an account number on my bill 😩

Keep an eye on your pseg bill, and call them if you see any changes from past months

You can call PSEG and ask them to put a “lock” on your account so that it can’t get transferred over. It might be too late but it’s worth a shot
