I wish they did the same with the Kislak Building on Broad and Central. Great work on the interior; the apartments are beautiful. But the exterior does not look good. I actually think it looked better before they renovated it to that awful pink and gray facade. But underneath that metal panel cladding is a historic structure.

That pink and grey is how it looked originally when it was built. They put I back to the historic facade.

The Kislak building is historic because it’s old enough but is not in keeping with the time period of the historic district which is why it stands out. It’s ugly as sin.

They can only mandate in exchange for a historic landmark designation or for tax credits. They don’t have the power to mandate what people do with their unless they’re giving something in exchange.
