One thing to remember about Phil Murphy. He couldn't make it in his home state of Massachusetts so he had to come down here to finally be successful politically

Huh? He was already down here cause he made his fortune at Goldman Sachs. He never tried to make it politically in Massachusetts

At most he's probably going to get a county level position. He hasn't done anything to really branch out to other communities other than the areas that keep electing him.

Hopefully Newark will get a new mayor before the next decade lol

The way he has repeatedly screwed over economically depressed long time residents by not fighting waivers for affordable units in new construction. The way he did little to ease the concerns of well meaning people who fed the homeless at Penn station. The way he turned a blind eye to the homeless encampment behind the previously vacant baseball lot as they removed them.
He hurt himself. The man has done things to make out of state developers happy.

I can't see Ras as a viable statewide candidate. Newark really doesn't seem to be on the radar of anyone outside of the immediate area. Phil Murphy, an affable rich white guy had enough trouble getting reelected. Undecided suburbanites will see a republican attack ad quoting Ras's father and vote for whoever the other candidate is.
