Ironside finally has a restaurant tenant facing Mulberry park, "Katherines Restaurant and Brewery". Dont expect it to open before next summer at the earliest. The coffee shop that was to open on the first floor is no longer happening.

Coldstone Creamery is coming to Broad Street near the Zaros.

Ani Ramen House no longer coming to Hahnes building.

Gateway continues to illegally block access to the public walkways.

Forgot to add...after evicting the 2 retail tenants on Broad/Raymond to build a Burlington and doing a full interior demo, theyve done jack shit for 2 months.

Burlington has been pussyfooting with that site for several years. FWIW, the landlord once mentioned the tenants were often way behind. “They pay rent when they can.”

Have we not seen any workers there... I know the place is supposed to be two floors (ground and basement) and that might play a part in that as they may be prioritizing the basement.

A Salsa latín bistró and lounge is taking over the Just Be Claws spot at the Courtyard by Marriott on Broad St.

I think this is the news I am most excited about. If done right, that place can be a huge part in downtown's nightlife scene.

Thanks for the updates. I hope Cold stone will do well. Good ice cream downtown should be good nonetheless.

Loving the resturuant at Ironside. Been waiting for that. Activating that space with Edison place and the Pru is key.

I’m not one to trust a “restaurant and brewery” in the state of NJ (due to our shitty laws in this state), but I’m curious nonetheless.

Verrrrry interesting! I knew the papered windows next to Zaro's had to mean SOMEthing. Only took more than 7 years for something to happen. I'm NOT complaining, but is Cold Stone still a thing? Seems they were hip at least a decade ago now. I figured Ani Ramen was a no-go long ago when they refused to answer my repeated requests on social media if they were still coming to Newark, not to mention the complete lack of movement in that space. Not at all shocked about the Ironside coffee place, either. There's also a "Green Room" coming to the corner of Halsey and Warren. And Casa Espresso I see has opened AGAIN on Halsey; the history of this place fascinates me. Last but not least, yes, very exciting that bunkr. has moved into the basement of 25 Halsey!

Some great news mixed in with not so great news. Love the new restaurant opening up facing the park. Hopefully will lead to another spot in the ironside/allow for tenants to move into Shaq 2 quickly once it opens up.

Love Coldstone opening up downtown. Ani Ramen not coming in sucks seeing as it was said to be the flagship store for the chain, but oh well. That spot is huge and I would love a sports bar/lounge to open up there.

Is no one allowed into the Gateway anymore...like what about the street entrance facing market, is that also closed off. If so, we should definitely complain to the city to put some pressure on them as it was supposed to be part of this big plan to add more activity to that part of downtown.

The gateway is still closed to non-employees. People are upset because access is still restricted even though allegedly the major construction along the corridor is complete. There still is plenty of work going on inside so I've always chalked it up to an insurance thing.

The security at the penn entrance don't care and let anyone through, I've been doing it for awhile. 2 weeks ago i tried going through the mulberry entrance and was reminded it was closed - i passed 28 people going the other direction for a game.
