Garbage story. Follow the laws and don't confront the police, i don't believe for a minute that the police/city would take such action without probable cause.

Garbage response. If you really think that the cops don't harass street vendors, you are the most naive person in the world.

Indeed naive. Actually, a few years back the vendors were being harassed by plain clothes and what not. I believe it was when the arena first opened and the city wanted to...."sanitize" downtown so visitors would't feel culture shock and the literal "physical pain" of music or someone making an honest living selling goods.

I mean, they built hallways in the sky so commuters didn't have to interact with the locals.

A hallway that they’re scared to re-open now :(

I hate crossing 21 during rush hour.

Yeah I remember they wanted to move them to a designated area. Admittedly, I thought it was a good idea when proposed. I envisioned it like an outdoor market place full of different vendors. And maybe have it open late evening like the night markets in many cities in Asia. But I'm cool with them where they are too. I get my oils and incense from street vendors. And also my "Newark" hats!

Ohhhh I would love a night market here!!

I love the many food vendors of this city. If they were all in one place, reliably, every night? Oh, the gluttony!

My vote would be to do it on Treat Place between Branford and William St! Throw up some string lights and/or maybe some uplighting on those awesome murals!
