If you haven't read the book, I highly highly recommend it.

The book was amazing… such a tragic story. Brothers, stay out the game. Ain’t nothing out here for us in these streets but death and imprisonment.

You absolutely should - it's one of those books that will live in your brain forever. Both inspirational and crushing at the same time.

Edit: It will resonate even more with people who have a connection with the city and surrounding areas, as you'll know exactly where/what they're talking about

An excellent book and looking forward to the movie. Sad that what he was murdered over is now legal.

Oh man. I didn't even think about that. Holy shit that is heartbreaking. And he was a scientist by training. He could have had a business. It is heartbreaking.

The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace

>The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace is a biography by Jeff Hobbs about an intellectually brilliant young African-American man, Robert DeShaun Peace (June 25, 1980 – May 18, 2011), who left Newark, New Jersey to attend Yale University, but fell back into the streets when he returned to Newark and was murdered, aged 30, "face down, knees bent", in a drug-related shooting.

Peace was a cousin of mine through marriage and I also went to Benedict’s where he taught. I was even in the same group as him: Father Dunstan Smith. I have the book and read it, and I won’t watch the movie, but I value them as pieces to educate people about Newark and the troubles that come with it. Please watch and please read.

Sometimes I wonder who killed him and what that person is doing now
