A buddy of mine is starting a new job near Penn Station next week, and we are trying to come up with a lively spot to meet up for some drinks after work.
Can anyone recommend a good happy hour bar within walking distance to Penn Station? Thank you in advance.

My walking distance is pretty far. Kilkenny Alehouse would be my go-to. Redd's is closer, but I don't know their schedule.

Newark Local Beer. Bit of a walk, but better than the other options.

Thank you guys for your suggestions. I walk everywhere.. so my walking distance covers a lot of ground. Will hopefully check all of these out. Thank you.

Thank you. Any spot better than others for 2 single guys to meet some girls?

McGoverns isn’t too far. They make a decent burger and pretty good beer selection

Burke’s is very good! Good beer selection (including Newark Local Beer) and an awesome pork sandwich.

In addition to all of the above, there is Burke's Tavern about 4 blocks south of Penn in the Ironbound, and many restaurants along Ferry Street have bars (Forno's, Delicias de la Minas, Mompou, Adega Grill, Iberia, etc.)

Adega is where you want to be. Maybe a 10 minute walk from Penn.

Bello’s is the closest bar to the station. It’s a commuter bar. Decent food and good beer selection.

Burke’s is new and wants to be the hipster bar but it’s lacking a crowd yet. I really like it though.

Bar Vanquish is like THE downtown bar for Black professionals in Newark right now.

Mompou is good for tapas. Small bar area.

If you want to try to meet girls, Adega, Manu, Little Tijuana, Lit 21.

Redd’s is closer than almost all the other places mentioned. But only good for happy hour when there’s no hockey game or other event at Prudential
