The one of the most overrated pop stars ever, it still amazes me when people consider her a "legend." The general public are very easy to impress.

Idk I mean you don’t have to like her music, but she was an excellent entertainer who was a mastermind at publicity and knew how to get attention in a way many other singers didn’t. I think that’s part of why she’s considered so impressive: her voice really isn’t that great or amazing and she’s not the prettiest singer to exist, but she still knew how to blow up the news and make sure everybody was talking about her

You pretty much said it for me, all she ever did was publicity stunts, what talent does she have?

I mean I just said it? She was very good at manipulating her media image and doing things that got her maximum exposure. And she was never stale, every album she released was like she reinvented herself. Look at the change she went through from high pitched Minnie Mouse voice with ratty street urchin hair and clothes in Like a Virgin to where she was in Papa Don’t Preach or Like a Prayer. She managed to constantly stay on top of what was in style and what would garner her attention.

And that’s stuff a lot of other celebrities are not as good at. She was incredibly intelligent and business minded. She wasn’t out there doing drugs and acting like a mess, she carefully crafted an image and the media swallowed it whole. And frankly that takes a lot more skill than just being able to sing a pop song well

Doing publicity stunts for 3 decades and dressing up half naked 90% of the time doesn't equate to having talent.

She has the second highest top 10 singles of any woman ever on Billboard's top 100 charts. 38 songs in the top 10. And dozens more in the top 40 and top 100. That's not done by someone with no talent. She may not have been the best singer, but she certainly isn't bad. And her songs in the 80's, 90's and early 2000's were eminently catchy and listenable.

She wrote a lot of songs, 38 of them became top 10 hits. She’s a good dancer too.

You can't be serious? A good dancer? That's a slap in the face to people who were actual good dancers like James Brown, Michael Jackson, Paula Abdul, Janet Jackson, Chris Brown, also are you sure she wrote a lot of songs? Considering her history of plagiarism??

Whoa… slow your roll, lol. She knows how to dance. I never said she’s the best dancer, but she you can’t deny she’s has skill as a dancer. She studied it for many years.

Obviously, you’ve got all kinds of reasons built up in your head that convince you how terrible she is. I don’t know, maybe you ran into her somewhere and she snubbed you when you tried to flirt with her. So, no matter what, you’ve got some bitterness going on. You’re definitely passionate about your dislike for her. Anyway, good luck with all that.

That's a very odd thing to say in an era which is dominated by completely vapid, meaningless and safe pop stars.

Oh, I was just speaking on how I felt at the time during Madonna's era... It just amazed me back then and still does to this day
