Big Wheel, boots, a towel as a cape and a red Ryder gun....this is me.

This is from a photo collection called Suburbia by Bill Owens.

Actual quote accompanying this photo: I don’t feel that Richie playing with guns will have a negative effect on his personality. (He already wants to be a policeman). His childhood gun-playing won't make him into a cop-shooter. By playing with guns he learns to socialize with other children. I find the neighbors who are offended by Richie's gun, either the father hunts or their kids are the first to take Richie's gun and go off and play with it.

Big Wheels were what you drove if you weren't cool enough for a Green Machine.

He's there for protection. Nothing goes down in that neighborhood with him there.

Those seats on the wheelies were so often knocked off, you saw so many wheelies turned into “kneelies” cause the seats wouldn’t last.

That's not a Daisy Red Ryder Carbine Action 200 Shot Range Model Air Rifle ( with a compass in the stock and this thing that tells time ). That's a Daisy Model 1894 ( with spring activated lever action). I had one of these in middle school; dang underpowered piece of crap always shot low and to the right!

I did this too. I had me, Pete, Mike, John, and Tim Evans.

We all liked Becky. I took her all over the neighborhood till I sold that banana seat bike...

I told Tim he could have that old used ride. I gave him the bike too.

Seemed like almost every kid about that age had a Big Wheel around that time. I sure did.
