Vasili Arkhipov (1960's). During the Cuban Missile Crisis a false alarm of nuclear war almost made a Soviet nuclear submarine near the U.S launch it's nukes. However the order for a launch needed 3 approvals and Arkhipov refused.normallysuck t1_jd4v2v8 wrote
To my shame，as a resident of the country participating in the conflict，I haven't known about this person to this day. Rationality and calm are those qualities that I'd like to develop in myself even now，40 years after my birth.
