I loved those blue ones too. I was slightly disappointed when my dad bought this one without a T-Top, but he said he got some kind of deal on it because it didn't have one.

I spent many a day and night driving around in the late 70’s / early 80’s in a friends’ TA.

Stick or automatic?

DistantKarma OP t1_iqnxuuv wrote

Automatic. It was way too much car for me when I got my license a couple years later. I got a ticket for going 77 mph in a 45 zone at age 16.

Shaker says TA 6.6 ?

I remember those.

I thought the shaker callout was 6.6 LITRE on automatic cars. Not doubting, just raised my eyebrows a tad

6.6 LITRE was for the lighter, more fuel efficient, but less powerful Oldsmobile 400.

Gotta see what she can do at that age even though we don’t know what we’re doing other than playing with new and cool found power. Great pic and no doubt good memories for you.

Did you know it was cool at the time?

Definitely, YES. All of the sudden I had more friends and the girls all wanted rides in it.

Does he still own it?

He broke my heart and gave it to my older sister like 4 years later. It wound up being traded in a few years after that.

Ever lose control! Looks like it would be a blast to launch, somewhere safe of course.

Back in high school, back in the day, a friend had two Trans Ams. One was the Smokey and the Bandit edition. He was envied.

Neighbor has an original one of these in his garage. We keep asking him if it is his retirement plan.
