I wonder since I know relatives of that era (born in the 20s) still have multiple furs in their closets…so what does one do with old fur coats?

I bet they’re unbelievably warm. Stylish before PETA but if worn today is there still a chance someone will spray paint your coat?

I have a gorgeous coat from the 20s made of seal fur that was passed down from my great, great grandmother. I don't want to think about how it was made, but damn if it isn't the warmest and most stylish coat I've ever owned.

Only take her out on special occasions though, she's starting to fall apart so I need to find a repair shop that can save the fur.

Your grandparent's siblings are your grand aunts and grand uncles. Their parents are your great aunts and great uncles. I didn't know that until recently... called my grand aunts and grand uncles great aunts and uncles most of my life. I might have that wrong. Maybe it's your grandparent's aunts and uncles that are your great aunts and uncles. I was also told that my 1st cousin's kids were my second cousins. They're your 1st cousin once removed. PSC PPSCC PPPSCCC is the key to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd cousins. Your parent's parent's siblings child's child is your 2nd cousin.

That’s a mink stole, it’s not a part of the coat.

Thanks for the correction, learned something new today (just spent the last 20 min reading about the difference between a scarf, shawl, stole and a wrap hahaha)

You’re very welcome. : ) Cool picture though!

The only reason that I know this is that my Grandmother had one too.

Used to be mink farms all over these parts before i was born. ( Minnesota and the 70s) now there is only one and a bunch of animal rights people let all the mink loose one night. Luckily, the majority of the mink didn't know what the hell happened and stayed there. A few were spotted out in the wild though.

Crazy, this just happened at mink farm 4 miles from my house in Ohio earlier this week. Up to 40,000 minks set loose by a group called ALF I believe (they spray painted those letters on the side of the building) 'funny' part is they got hunters and trappers and anyone really to basically kill or catch if possible the good majority of them. They were getting ran over on the highway and the city used snow plows to scrape them off the roads lol

Also hilarious that we get downvoted for telling of the events . While not having anything to do with fur farming whatsoever.
