True that ;p.

If the artwork on the pin wasn't broken i would narrow down the year easier, but overall it looks like em reel display

Also, Van Halen's first album came out in 1978 (Joey's shirt), so it's no earlier than that.

It’s cracking me up for some reason that he’s wearing a Van Halen t.

Why? Bands wearing another bands tee is like the most stereotypical thing I can think of. But you don't wear the tee of the band you're seeing kids.

And if you buy a tee at the show that night, don't wear it to school the very next day.

Why not?

Because kids are weird about stuff, and they have stupid, arbitrary rules that they enforce. In my middle school and high school, there were the kids who would make fun of you if you wore your new concert t-shirt to school the day after the show. It was considered nerdy and you were considered to be a poser.

No , I’m quoting from the movie PCU. The lead character tells another cast member don’t wear the shirt of the band your going to see “ Don’t be that guy”

That VH logo was on Van Halen II, 1979.

The_Observatory_ t1_ix8rsft wrote

It was, but it was also on the cover of Van Halen I in 1978. The difference between the two album covers is that on VH1, it has the words "Van Halen" right across the VH; and on VH2, the words are above the VH. On his t-shirt, it looks like the logo has the words across the VH, so it's more like the VH1 album cover.
