1980s it was prob colour anyway. Sepia photos are from an age waaaayyy before the 80s. This is fake aged

They used to sell black and white film in the 80's. People got it for fun the same way people apply filters now. A lot of photos also lose/warp color after sitting out in a frame for a long time.

You can just say "they sold black and white film in the 80's". "used to" is somewhat strange to add when you also say the past date, especially when they still sell such film
