I wonder if my old YZ80 is still alive somewhere. Sudden wave of massive nostalgia.

You don’t have it anymore?

My father sold all of ours when we had out grown them. I have got an '89 KX80 we restored together, which the kids aren't allowed to ride.

Nice. I had an 86 KX80 then a 91 KX80. The 89 was the model before the wacky 90s graphics came out!

A 2-stroke race bike is fun at any age. My RM100 still thrills me at 185lbs.

I’ve got a 200lb friend who restored his 87 KX80 and has a ball on it.

Im restoring my old kx80 found all original oem decals which had been the hardest parts to find.

It’s getting tough to find parts for old Kawasaki’s

All great bikes back in their day. I’m trying to source some 92 rm80 parts to do a resto. Buddy of mine he’s a few years older then me has done a great job of finding some very clean late 80’s 80cc bikes. He found very clean 89 cr80r /yz80/rm80 and currently looking for an clean 87-89 kx80.

I had a '78. It's was Gray. Most fun and indestructible bike ever. I think those were my happiest times ever.

I thought the grey ones were earlier? 1973? Those melt my heart

You might be right. '74 maybe? I had a '75 Elsinore 125 also. Silver with red stripe on tank. That was another wonderful bike.

I had the exact bike at what looks to be about the same age as you. Loved that bike. It was one of the seeds that grew into a lifetime passion for motorcycles.

Any UK people get a huge “Kick Start” / “Junior Kick Start” memory from images like this ? Never ridden a bike myself but I could tell how hard what they were doing was.

My first bike was an XL125 in 84 when I was 13. I thought I was the coolest kid on the block, great pic!

Nice bike!

I learned to ride on a Honda 50, then moved up to an SL125. Practically indestructible trail bike. Your photo reminds me of many great times…

I rode a Z50R a couple of years ago on a mate’s property. I left with a massive grin. I had so much fun on that tiny bike and yeah, felt so nostalgic.

Nothing beats the feeling of being a kid on a dirt bike. Was like my real first taste of being free an in control

I learnt a lot of life lessons from dirt bikes. I was a shy scared kid and it taught me how to face my fears, over and over again.

Nice picture. Funny thing is I still got a XR75 kicking around my farm. Just goes to show how good the japs can make a dirt bike.

That’s awesome. I still have mine but it is in boxes awaiting resto. Japanese bikes are definitely great quality.
