I just did a little research on this bike. Very cool. Interesting thing I found out was you had to pay extra for the kick start.

A lot of motorcycles from these times where so called „push bikes“. You put in second gear, open gas/air some 20% and pull the decompression lever. Start pushing, release decompression and jump in the saddle as soon as the engine starts.
Some bikes had kick starters, others like Royal Enfield had hand operated cranks untill mid 20ies. Quite a job to crank start a 2 cylinder 900 ccm engine. 💪🏼

My mother was born in Mayfield, Newcastle in 1929. Her father worked making wire in a steelmill. I have a strong affection for this lovely town.

Nice looking man on a nice looking bike but the license plate position is in such a bad place it could split somebody’s face open if they go forward.

I think that’s one of the reasons they got rid of the front number plates back in the 70s.

This is a AJS K7, 350 ccm OHC(not only OHV!!!) from 1928. At that time the really wild thing. Note the flat tank, inverse levers and gas/air levers - still not the twist gas grips. Note also the gas head light. Photo is most likely end 1920ies/early 1930ies. I keep my fingers crossed that you still have this motorcycle. 🤞🏼
