I can assure you this is not what Atlantic City looks like any longer. The city itself is in shambles, literally a beachfront slum. But the beaches and boardwalk are getting better.

Really obvious how far society has come in terms of equality, I don’t see any “people of colour”, and how the adult women are fully clothed, maybe they wanted to enjoy the beach too? Still a long road ahead, if you look at the planet as a whole. Even in the most liberal of cities today, it’s easy to find ignorance more in tune with the popular opinion at the time of this picture

Old timey mens swim suits were made of wool, at the indoor YMCA pools men swam naked because the wool fibers clogged up the pool filters.

Doesn’t absorb the heat like the dark dresses. Plus the top of the dresses have a lot of lace components over a tank top like bodice and that made for more breathability.
