Did he happen to serve as an engineer to the Radar Corps in Alaska? My grandfather was attached to that unit and this gentleman looks similar to one in photos my grandfather had. Just curious.

No. My friend’s dad was a Coastie up there then. A family friend was a radar man in Hawaii. Another survived Pearl Harbor in the Raleigh.
Dad served at Fort Ordnance designing amphibious tanks for the Pacific Theater. He had a visit from Eisenhower when he came down with chickenpox. I spend time with him trying to trigger his memories.
