No. My friend’s dad was a Coastie up there then. A family friend was a radar man in Hawaii. Another survived Pearl Harbor in the Raleigh.
Dad served at Fort Ordnance designing amphibious tanks for the Pacific Theater. He had a visit from Eisenhower when he came down with chickenpox. I spend time with him trying to trigger his memories.

That is so amazing. I lost granddad in 1995. I was too young to pick his brain at the time, but I desperately wish I could/would have. Happy birthday to your father and a huge thank you to him.
