New to PA Unemployment: Weekly Certification Question

I was part of company layoff back in December. Luckily got a severance for 2 additional months. I thought I would be employed at this point but not the case. I understand that the severance would
impact the start date of benefit and amount. Today, I revisited my application because I understand I have to do a weekly check in. I found a link to do "Weekly Certifications Review > File You Weekly Certification to Continue Your Claim". System asked me some basic questions for the work week. Is that all that is required? Do I need to submit more details about what jobs I applied for? Or interviews? Or is it just honor system?

You just need to keep track of your job search/interview history, they usually only ask for verification if you're filing for an extension.

Right now all you need to do every week is fill out two applications, do one job search activity (this includes spending time searching on indeed, Linkin etc) , and file your weekly certification. Also register on the Career Links website if you haven't already.

Not a problem, our unemployment system is all outta whack and has been for years, changing the rules in the middle of the emergency relief benefits just made it worse.

You should get information from L&I on your job search requirements in the mail shortly after you file the first week in which you are eligible for benefits, and also receive notifications on the PA UC claims portal when logged in.

It’s been more than a few years since I worked in that space, so if you are really concerned I’d reach out to your state rep or senator’s district office and ask this exact question. That contact information is available on the PA legislative website if you use the find my legislator tool and search by home address.

Call the unemployment people directly! Ask the people who work there. Yeah yeah, it will be busy, I know. So call, call, call.
