There can be only one.

They have to fight to the death, with swords, which only means that one will be decapitated and the other will absorb the former's powers into his own. Making the One more powerful as time goes on but they can't fight on hollow grounds so they fight in Indiana, PA.

If you ask why he won't have kids they tell you it's because groundhogs can only breed in the wild. Turns out it's true, and has kept a dude in a job exporting groundhogs all around the world for years.

I am Phillip MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod. I was born in 1818 in the village of Punxsutawney along the shores of the Mahoning Creek. I am immortal.

There can be only one famous groundhog in Pennsylvania.

SecretConspirer t1_j6ydojl wrote

I don't honestly know if Henry Cavill can pull off the groundhog-esque features required in the remake. I guess we'll have to see how their makeup team does the effects.

10

randomnighmare t1_j6zz3y8 wrote

Wasn't Henry Cavill drop from the remake or was that just a fake rumor?

2

SecretConspirer t1_j702zal wrote

I just saw those rumors now, looks like they cropped up about four days ago. Idk, nothing reputable has posted it, and I can't think of a worse fit than Hemsworth.

1

randomnighmare t1_j703ikx wrote

I really don't know much about the Highlander remake although, I guess it can go to a lot of different actors. As long as they look like they are a struggling immortal that can hold their own during a swordfight I could believe it. Although, I don't know if they are going to make this version Scottish or something else. I guess it really doesn't matter (if you ignore the sequel and focus on the TV series) they can be from anywhere in the world.

2

SecretConspirer t1_j704prk wrote

I don't think there's much info out there in general other than "it's happening" and "Cavill is Connor." I just personally don't think Hemsworth can pull off a serious role. But hey, big chance the movie isn't actually happening at all anyway, this is Hollywood after all and the rumor mill is always churning. And to your last point, couldn't they be from anywhere... In the universe iirc?

1

randomnighmare t1_j705ljf wrote

You are right about the rumor churn so who knows?

> And to your last point, couldn't they be from anywhere... In the universe iirc?

Yeah, they can be from anywhere. It's not tied to race, religion, ethnicity, etc... but in the OG movie, MacLeod's (who is the main character that happened to be from the Scottland Highlands) rival/enemy was originally from Eastern Europe (present-day Russia to be more exact) and his mentor (played by Sean Connery) was supposedly Spanish.

2

SecretConspirer t1_j70641f wrote

I was really young when my mother would watch the show, and covered my eyes during suggestive sex scenes and the beheadings. I have fond memories but I haven't gone back to watch, if I'm being honest. However, I remember them being aliens at one point, or did that get retconned like a lot of shows that era did (SG1, Xena, etc)?

She should get 77% as much elixir of life as he does.

18

[deleted] OP t1_j6yar4v wrote

According to their formula, one sip of Elixir confers seven years of immortality and Phil gets a sip every year. So he is definitely way over saturated and could share some with the wife.

My English teacher in high school grew up in punxy and his family had a bunch of groundhogs living in a purpose built basement. These groundhogs would rotate out which one was living at the library as “Phil”. He said that his friends would come over and everyone would play with all the Phil’s in the basement growing up. I always thought it was best because I never thought about Phil in the off days and the prolonged life of him/them.
