When leaving work around 8pm, I heard a helicopter flying low over the building. As a bit of a plane lover, I opened Flight Radar and saw it was a Maryland State Police helicopter. When looking at the map, I noticed there was a second helicopter over town as well. They were both flying patterns over town. The second helicopter was only identified as a Bell, a 407 I think, but FR didn't have anything to confirm if it was a news station or other entity.

I didn't see anything on the news, and it seems weird to me that a Maryland State Police chopper would be circling directly over the PA State Police barracks located in Hamburg. Anyone have any guesses or insight on this?

Oh, that sounds logical. Thanks! More curious than anything. I certainly don't have warrants out of Maryland....

That's cool though. I just wonder who chopper #2 belonged to.

It could have been Trooper 3. It is a Maryland State Police Air Medical helicopter that is staffed with state troopers who are trained paramedics. They respond to medical calls in PA and WV from time to time.

That's super cool! Thanks for the reply. I knew if I'd find answers anywhere, it'd be on Reddit. It just seems so far away from the border, but by chopper it's probably like 30 minutes. We have a lot of life flight helicopters in the area, but maybe they needed more. I just haven't heard about a mass casualty accident on 78 or anything that might require that.
