I always had it in my head that it was Strawbridge and Clothier's discount store, like Clothier = Clover.

I remember going to the Kiddie City in the Northeast. I would have dreams of that place when I was a kid.

You're correct, Clover was a subsidiary of Strawbridge & Clothier.
