Every pharmacy in the country is having this problem for the last year.

This. My child had to go on an alternative medication because no pharmacy has her regular ADHD meds. I’m in NEPA and it’s a problem everywhere.

I'm in Memphis and haven't been able to get my adderall for almost a year. I'm a 42 year old college student. My grades have definitely suffered.

Try to find an online pharmacy that has shipping. You can also call the manufacturer help line, they may be able to point you in the right direction

DeliciousBeanWater t1_jc9p6xe wrote

Yeah thats not gonna work, the manufacturers cant keep up with orders. National shortage from the manufacturer. Also with controlled substances you cant continously go to different pharmacies.

I have had zero issues getting the extended release version of Adderall.

Your one of the lucky ones then

I guess? FDA has yet to report a shortage of the XR formulations. It’s only been the instant release officially declared a shortage.

joyfulteacher t1_jca8yjh wrote

My partner had to switch from the XR to immediate release with less than stellar results because nobody had any.

4

dclxvi616 t1_jca9285 wrote

Yea that would make for a shitty experience. It’s a bad time to switch in that direction for sure.

Roxmysox68 t1_jcabyae wrote

Yeah for me the XR is the hard one to get my 10mg IR is always in stock

I'm from Eastern PA, and I had the same problem with armodafinil. It is a manufacturing issue. The drugstores can't get it from their distributors because they can't get it. I had to go into NJ to get mine, no one near me had it either. Good luck! Maybe you'll have to check in nearby NY or Ohio...

Thank you…. I may have to go that route as well if my doctor is okay with calling an out of state pharmacy. This has been a nightmare and is starting to effect my everyday activities just like before i was diagnosed and found the right medication.

You either need a paper script or talk call other stores inside the chain where your script already is.

I easily got my Vyvanse filled at CVS the same day. It wasn’t a problem.

2

Critical_Band5649 t1_jca5s5g wrote

Vyvanse isn't part of the nationwide shortage for now. It's mostly Adderall, the other meds are only seeing issues here and there due to patients being switched to the others.

OneHumanPeOple t1_jcaalj7 wrote

Ah ok. Makes sense. I didn’t know which one OP was referencing.

1

largeroastbeef t1_jcbanb3 wrote

A big reason there isn’t vyvanse issues is because it’s still under patent and only brand name so it’s much more expensive so people avoid it if they can.

But I think the patent expires this year

So, I'm in NY but the shortage is nationwide. My family doctor has had to change our dosage/delivery speed depending on what was available in our area. My daughter's psych meds have started to be affected as well.

I've had to use different pharmacies from time to time. I use a private pharmacy so they are willing and able to help us with around the shortage one way or another. I've considered using Amazon Pharmacy but I haven't tried it yet.

Prescription shortages can be so dangerous. It's scary.

Good luck to you.

Ask your insurance carrier if they have mail options.

Had to change diabetic meds because the one I was on was in manufacturing back order. Thankfully the new one works better and is similar style med

melipooh72 t1_jcewmo6 wrote

Was it Lantus? My SO can't get his Lantus anywhere and I am getting so concerned because he is on the verge of running out. His doctor has not returned his messages to discuss an alternative.

syraphym t1_jcex7k5 wrote

No mine was trulicity. I ran out and went three weeks before getting victoza. Thankfully I had a secondary med to kind of help balance out for that time.

2

melipooh72 t1_jcexsxx wrote

Thanks. The pharmacy blamed the shortage on "celebrities using diabetic meds for weight loss" but his medication isn't what they are using for that so it much be something else going on.

Been getting our stuff shipped from Pittsburgh childrens hospital. Usually they don’t have many issues getting things

I have 3 sons on Adderall XR, and it’s been a problem. CVS couldn’t get it, but our local mom and pop pharmacy (which I like better, our insurance made us switch to CVS) had it. My oldest got switched to Vyvanse.

Issue across the country. Being blamed on easy access thru tele-health.

Try an independent pharmacy. If you're close to Erie, I recommend Union City Pharmacy

I’m in Pittsburgh and had to get name brand XR adderall to get my script filled last week. It cost me $90 versus my usual like $11, but not a single rite aid in my area had the generic.

1

ambakerr t1_jdgk7w2 wrote

I asked my doctor about the shortage as I was worried about it since I am on the generic Adderall and my one friend who has been on concerta for 2 years had to switch to vyvanse because of the shortage. My doctor said he would rather help me try to go through every pharmacy in the area before switching me to something else. Maybe contact your doctor to see if they have some type of contact info at other pharmacies in your area? He also said if it did happen, he would try to switch me to a lesser prescribed dose, like if 15 mg is super popular and hard to find for some reason, he’d change my dose to something else and I could split it or take an extra or something.
