Smoked crack in 10th grade with my crush. We then stood in a creek and allowed ourselves to dampen.

My friends and I sent a lot of messages on AIM. We would create fake names and message guys we liked. We'd also 3 way call with said guys and not tell them 2 people were on the line. I got my first cell phone in 2006 and each text message cost money to send.

My friends and I would go to a spot on Kelly drive in Philly that overlooked the river to chill and blaze. Being the park and so late, there were several encounters with crazy homeless people. I’m not saying all are crazy, just these ones were. lol.

I graduated in 99, so I’m close. I remember North Hanover Mall, Magic Elm skating rink, Dave Matthews Band, dial up internet. Hotmail accounts. Movies at the Majestic Theatre in Gettysburg. Feeling so grown up when we could drive ourselves all the way to the Galleria in York.

I was also still using ICQ in addition to AIM in 99/00.

Quick story - you could search for ppl by name on ICQ so I searched up a girl I had a big crush on. I was about 17, so I found her and we started chatting one Friday night. I got the courage to ask her out after talking for a little bit and she replied "I have a boyfriend". In a rare act of ballsiness I replied "so break up with him". She immediately replied "brb" to which I thought she was going to the bathroom or her Mom called her downstairs or something. About two minutes goes by and she came back and said "okay I did it". Chatted all weekend and started dating officially as bf/gf that Monday at school.

Good times.

Oh man. This answer reflects more of the mid-2000s but still pretty applicable: AIM (a lot of thought went into crafting "away messages" which were auto-replies you set when leaving the computer), malls + movie theaters, the advent of MySpace was pretty big (your "top 8" friends could be a big deal). Drinking at someone's house.

Anybody near Bucks remember NAC dances? This thread just unlocked a core memory of grinding with my first gf to 50 Cent lmfao.
