Because no matter what you call them the mountain lion is still making great strides in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania is also infested with coyotes, but you don't hear alot about them unless you live in rural populous places. I live in Columbia County and literally came within about 15-20 yards of a pack about a week ago. They didn't want part of myself or my dog and they are on guard to begin with.

Trust me Lancaster County has ALOT around. I lived in Manheim/Mount Joy area most of my life and also spent a lot of time at State Gameland 156. I've seen wildlife. Even saw a bear just out for a leisurely stroll in nearby Middle Creek
Where I live now its not uncommon to see both bear and deer tracks , plus coyotes, foxes are regular visitors....

I know what your saying, but mountain lions are actual creatures that people “own” and set loose. There was a female mountain lion running around northern berks for a bunch of years. At the same time there where a pair of emu’s running around the same area. Nothing like seeing a 5ft tall flightless bird running around the woods to scare the crap out of you.

I went ahead and did some research, the mountain lion federation (MLF not Milf) says there are no population known of mountain lions east of the Rockies minus a small endangered pop in Florida. Wildlife informer goes both ways stating there is not any mountain lions in pa but there have been sightings. PSU explicitly says No cougars in PA. I swear I’ve seen the yellow of a mountain lion. I do not believe there is a significant population. In my neck of the woods it’s sparsely populated with a lot of woods and open unused land I’ve seen plenty of bob cats. Only ever thought I’ve seen a mountain lion a few times. They have lived here before and there is a claim that the last one was killed in the late 1800s but how is somebody in 1870-90 going to be able to verify that claim. I think they went the way of the wolf, virtually becoming something different. Like wolf and “eastern coyote” which I know exists I’ve seen it kill family members chickens that roamed their yard.

Yeah and once you spend some time up in those parts, you start to see how a mountain lion or two could roam undetectable for the most part. I saw what I believed to be one almost 20 years ago on Hazard road in Clinton county. There was the carcass of a fawn we saw laying in the road and a tan colored animal with a long, thick tail that went into the woods as we pulled up.
