Got onto the turnpike and was not paying attention and went towards Pittsburgh instead of Philadelphia. The next exit is 1 hour away so I was able to make a quick u turn and go back through the on ramp I originally entered.

What do you think will come of this? I am worried that they're going to charge an obscene amount for this. I feel so dumb. Any advice appreciated.

Wait, so you did a U turn and went backwards on a one way ramp? Did you go past any cameras or toll readers?

Sorry, should have been more clear. There was an opening on the off ramp to the left so I turned around there and went off there. I did not go backwards. And yes I essentially went on through that toll booth and then right back off of it.

I did this, once, when I almost ended up in New Jersey instead of wherever I was headed. Nothing came of it.

I once used the turnpike got get into the woods i off road in, nothing came of that. So I wouldn't worry about it too much.

They will most likely just charge the highest cost of a turnpike ticket. Something like $50. I did something like this years ago and that's what they did to me.

Judging by the millions of dollars that the turnpike is owed by people skipping payments I'd say the law of averages is on your side with this one.

I used to do a route for vending that included rest stops on the pa tp. Going back about 10 yrs or so, but was told by a toll taker that there is a time allotment for such events. I believe it was like a 1/2 hr- hr but this was pre- ezpass/plate reader.

if you used one of those little openings at the same on-ramp to switch from westbound to eastbound i think you will be fine. if you went through the same toll booth again after making the uturn you might get charged maximum toll though.

I agree with this response.

I've also spent more time than I care to on the turnpike and can't think of anyplace where it's an hour between exits - where were you and what sort of horse-drawn carriage were you driving?

Why did you go back through the original entered from? You have just kept going towards Philly.
