As the title reads, would the garage inspecting my truck refuse to inspect it for being so out of date? I drive 3 minutes to work to and from work each day and follow traffic rules pretty well so ive been putting it off as I'm very strapped for money. The truck is in good condition and I wanted to ask if they will fine me more money or refuse to inspect it because of how out of date it is?

No, most charge a set price regardless of how long its been out of inspection

Inspection stations do not fine folks. Lack the authority to do so. They'll be happy to get you thru the process and to take your money.

I am a licensed inspector.

We do not care when the last time your vehicle was inspected. The state doesn’t even care, as long as it has a current inspection when being driven.

We will take your money and issue you a new sticker every single day if you want. We’ll even take your money and put a sticker into a vehicle registered in another state if the owner chooses to do that.

They don't care, but the police will if you get pulled over.

The people responsible for getting you back into compliance don't have the power to report you nor do they care. They'll just want you to get back into compliance.

Get your truck inspected as soon as you can.

Take it in and get it done. If you get caught, the ticket will be 3 times the inspection fee.

I had a vehicle that was "retired" from use on a full time basis ie it was my dad's truck before he passed away. After my truck quit working I started using my dad's truck until I bought my current truck. The inspection had been out for 6 years when I took it in for inspection.

I once managed to be an entire year out of inspection, got it done no problem. Somehow never got pulled over.

The only worry is how much have the vehicle systems deteriorated over an extra 7 months. Any repairs will come in a lump sum rather than two more manageable intervals. The inspection station doesn't enforce expiration, or any other aspect of inspection, just pass/fail and apply sticker.

Garages don't mind. What if you had a large repair to do at the time it was due for inspection and you couldn't afford it (the situation I'm in, mine has been temporarily retired to the driveway for now. Was due in May).

I once made it 3 years driving to work everyday before I got pulled over for the expired sticker. Ticket was actually cheaper than 3 years worth of inspections

Inspection tech here, we arnt the police, no fines can be given from a shop. inspection stations are required to have a poster with inspection prices posted. I just did an inspection that the car has been out since 2019. No idea how they didnt get a ticket. lol
